DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES OF SURVEY

As part of NRC's effort to implement its Strategic Plan performance goal on openness, the attached public
meeting feedback form will be used to assess the effectiveness of NRC Communications Plans and interactions
with the public. The form is intended to be a qualitative method of collecting information, which will be used to
identify areas where NRC staff can improve its public interactions.
The form will be a business reply mailer, which can either be filled out at the meeting or returned by mail to
NRC. The form will be introduced and handed out, collected, reviewed, and documented by NRC staff
conducting public meetings, workshops, and round table discussions. These meetings will include those of high
public interest involving primarily radiological public health and environmental protection issues. They will
typically be held near NRC-licensed facilities and at NRC Regional and Headquarters offices. The form will also
be used at some enforcement conferences.
At the end of a meeting, the NRC will collect and review the completed forms, and include them as part of the
meeting summary. The feedback forms will be reviewed periodically to identify any generic areas for improving
NRC staff communications at public meetings.
The NRC estimates receiving 759 surveys annually, at 15 minutes per survey, for a total of 189.75 burden hours.
