This ICR is
approved for three years pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act as
enacted in 5 CFR Part 1320. The agency is encouraged to submit
revisions to burden estimates as the agency and respondents gain
experience with the test protocols and report preparation
requirements. Before resubmission of this ICR for extension, the
agency is encouraged to solicit confirmation of burden estimates
from the four respondents that are expected to submit Tier II
emissions test reports before 2002.

Manufacturers of gasolines, diesel
fuels, and additives for gasoline and/or diesel are required to
conduct health-effects research, unless they qualify for an
exemption. Many small businesses are exempt from some or all of the
requirements. Manufacturers of similar products have the
opportunity to group and share the expenses. The information will
be used to identify products whose emissions may pose an
unreasonable risk to public health.
