Abstract: Merchant seamen are required to provide information concerning period of employment and their merchant mariners' document to determine eligibility for reemployment rights when the employment is related to designated national service. Respondents are U.S. merchant seamen who have completed designated national service in time of war or national emergency and are seeking reemployment with prior employer.
