This collection of information is
needed in order to implement provisions of the Maritime Security
Act of 1996. The information is collected from individual mariners
and is required to retain benefits. Merchant seamen are required to
provide information concerning period of employment and their
merchant mariner's document. MARAD's Office of Maritime Labor and
Training will use the collected information to determine if U.S.
civilian mariners are eligible for re-employment rights under the
Maritime Security Act of 1996.
