Data Use and Protections
We want to reassure you that your privacy is protected by law. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS),
its employees, agents, and partner statistical agencies, will use the information you provide for
statistical purposes only and will hold the information in confidence to the full extent permitted by
law. In accordance with the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act (44
U.S.C. 3572) and other applicable federal laws, your responses will not be disclosed in identifiable form
without your consent. As required by the Federal Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2015, federal
information systems are protected from malicious activities through cybersecurity screening of
transmitted data.
The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 2027 (NLSY27) Research Panel is a federal survey,
authorized under Title 29, Section 2, of the United States Code. Participation in the NLSY27 Research
Panel is voluntary and if the person chooses not to participate, BLS will not contact the person in the
future and will not retain any of their information.
Data will be compiled and presented in a way so that no individual participants are identified. BLS and
its contractor, RTI International (RTI) will use data from this survey to conduct research to improve the
NLSY27.
