Path to Excellence and Innovation Initiative
Business Partner Application
The Path to Excellence and Innovation Initiative is designed to assist Historically Black Colleges and Universities
in competing for, securing, and managing contracts with the National Institutes of Health. The NIH Small
Business Program Office has determined that it is very valuable to involve commercial business partners (BPs) in
assisting the HBCUs in reaching their desired funding goals. Whether small or large, BPs can offer invaluable
business development experience to HBCUs interested in diversifying their Federal funding revenue.
