The National Center for Health
Statistics (NCHS) requests approval for a revision to the National
Electronic Health Records Survey (NEHRS). The purpose of this study
is to collect information on office-based physicians’ adoption and
use of EHR systems, practice information, patient engagement,
controlled substances prescribing practices, use of HIE, and the
documentation and burden associated with medical record systems
(which include both paper-based and EHR systems). The requested
changes include the removal of former supplemental surveys and
prior cybersecurity language, as well as, the streamlining of
information within previously approved letters. The annualized
burden has been reduced from 6,295 hours to 5,151 hours.
