Global Dossier Focus Session Questions


Respondents will be shown the attached mock-up for the passive component of Global Dossier and asked the following questions.


  1. Is there anything that should be added?

  2. Is there anything that should be removed?

  3. Based on your experience, what do you think about the functionality?

  4. Do you have any suggestions?


Respondents will also be asked the following questions as time permits.


  1. What are the steps you take to file an international patent application for an applicant?

  2. How many people are involved in the filing process?

  3. What is the most time consuming part of filing?

  4. Do you have a lot of corrections that need to be made international filings?

  5. What is the process for making corrections to international applications?

  6. What would make it easier for you to file an international patent application?

  7. Are you interested in being able to file a patent application in one location, no matter which country you are filing it in, and no matter which route you are filing?

  8. Do you think it would be helpful to have electronic document submission to multiple offices from one location?

  9. What issues do you see with a system that would allow you to file in one location for all countries?

The data collected from this interview will be used for planning efforts to ensure that the program produces productive and positive experiences. The responses will be aggregated. This collection of information is voluntary in accordance with E.O. 12862, “Setting Customer Service Standards.” All responses will remain confidential and are protected under the “Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act of 2002.” The USPTO estimates that it takes approximately 60 minutes (1 hour) to complete this interview.
