The BOEM will collect the information
to obtain knowledge of equipment, procedures, and circumstances
involved in OCS incidents. We will use the information to identify
OCS incident causes and trends in order to improve safety on the
OCS through regulation, performance standards, research, and
cooperative initiatives with industry. The BOEM uses the
information to determine that crane operations are safe nd that
crane operators and rigger personnel meet the physical
qualifications and have completed appropriate training. Respondents
are Outer Continental Shelf Federal and 1 State oil and gas or
sulphur lessees.
