2011 ANNUAL PAROLE SURVEY (CJ-7)

The U.S. Census Bureau, acting as collection agent for the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), will be conducting the 2011 collection for the Annual Parole Survey. Your data are important because BJS uses the data collected to measure growth and track changes in the parole population during the year. Once again, we ask for your assistance in providing data and want to thank you for your continued participation in this collection.

Within the next 30 days you will be receiving the survey packet for the 2011 Annual Parole Survey. The survey packet will include a BJS data request letter, directions for how to access the 2011 CJ-7 questionnaire online, a completed 2010 CJ-7 questionnaire, and the BJS publication Probation and Parole in the United States, 2010. We request that all data submissions for 2011 be made via the web, and stand ready to assist you to meet this goal. We hope this early notification may help you in making plans to save end-of-year information about your parole population.

The survey will include questions about:

  • Your agency’s parole population on December 31, 2011

  • Characteristics (i.e. gender, race, offense, etc.) of the parole population as of

December 31, 2011.

  • The number of parolees who entered and exited supervision during 2011.

Effective December 31, 2011, completed forms can be submitted via:
