The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) uses the information collected to gather accurate data in order to develop better strategies and solutions to the problems of grade crossing device malfunctions and signal system failures. FRA and railroad use this information to lessen the risk of accidents/incidents at highway-rail grade crosssings.
