Runway incursions are a risk to the
public traveling in aircraft. FAA has been concentrating on this
issue for a decade and progress has been elusive, in part because
of a lack of feedback from people working and flying on the runways
in the NAS. Feedback from surveys will be used in the prevention of
runway collisions and in the medication of the severity and
frequency of runway incursions.
The adjustment to the burden
from the previous regular Information Collection Request is based
on a reevaluation of all potential surveys to be conducted in the
future by this program, each of which is listed in the attached
spreadsheet and is accounted for in the total burden figures. This
is being submitted as a Generic Information Collection Request; the
individual surveys listed are in early stages of development, and
as they are each developed FAA plans to follow procedures for
activating them according to OMBs requirements for seeking
approval for individual ICs within a Generic ICR.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
