The purpose of this collection is to
develop and maintain a timely list of retail, wholesale, and
service establishments at which people shop for specific consumer
items. The information collected is used to select establishments
for pricing market basket items as needed for the Consumer Price
Index.

The total respondent burden
hours requested for 2010 are 10,280 and represent a slight increase
of 12 hours under the currently approved OMB inventory of 10,268.
This is due to the increase in the number of primary sampling units
(or geographic areas) from 75 to 87, but is offset be the decrease
in minutes per response from 12 minutes to 11 minutes.
