National Marine Fisheries Service
manages the crab fisheries in the waters off the coast of Alaska
under the Fishery Management Plan for Bering Sea and Aleutian
Islands Crab. The Crab Rationalization Program (CR Program)
allocates Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands crab resources among
harvesters, processors, and coastal communities. This
collection-of-information addresses the CR Program's mandatory
economic data collection reports (EDR). The EDR data is used to
assess the efficacy of the CR Program.

Conservation and Management Act as amended in 2006
Adjustments were made to
numbers of participants based on actual numbers of EDRs submitted
to PSMFC and due to the one-time historical EDR submissions having
been completed. In addition, in response to comments received, the
costs to complete and verify the EDRs are removed from personnel
costs and added to miscellaneous costs, because generally an
accountant is contracted to perform these tasks.
