Bus manufacturers must certify that
vehicles are in compliance with the Bus Testing Regulation (49 CFR,
Part 665) prior to obligation of Federal Transit Administration
(FTA) funds. Manufacturers furnish information to FTA detailing
specifications and proposed changes. FTA responds with a
determination regarding the applicability of the Bus Testing
Regulation. The Pennsylvania Transportation Institute operates and
maintains the Altoona Bus Testing Center on behalf of FTA.
