The Juvenile Probation Census Project
will collect information from juvenile probation supervision
offices regarding the number and characteristice of juveniles on
probation and the activities of juvenile probation offices
nationwide. The project includes two forms: the Census of Juvenile
Probation Supervision Offices and the Census of Juveniles on
Probation. There is currently no effort to collect information
about juveniles on probation although juvenile probation has been
termed the "workhorse" of the juvenile justice system and handles
large numbers of juveniles per year.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
