The regulation requires certain
financial institutions, including brokers, dealers, investment
companies, and registered investment adviser, to: (i) prepare
notices describing their privacy policies; (ii) provide to
individuals an initial notice describing the financial
institution's policies on the use of the individual's nonpublic
personal information; (iii) provide to all consumers of the
institution's financial products and services notice of how a
consumer can block (or "opt out" of) the transfer of the consumer's
nonpublic personal information to a third party that is
unaffiliated with the financial instutions;
