OMB is pleased
that ERS has made the discussion of measures of food security a
matter of public debate by sponsoring the recent conference. OMB
would like to see ERS response to the questions raised at the
conference about the current methodology, and their plans for
addressing those questions. ERS should also continue the analysis
of causes of food insecurity among high income respondents. In the
next printing of the survey, ERS will make the following changes.
Question S8, add at the end, "This amount should not include
nonfood items such as pet food, paper products, detergent or
cleaning supplies." Question SP4, replace "Does" with "(In
MONTH/The last time you got food stamp benefits)".
