The National Violent Death Reporting
System (NVDRS) collects information for surveillance to monitor the
occurrence of violent deaths in the U.S. at the national, state,
and local levels. Data is used to understand magnitude, trends, and
characteristics of violent death and what factors protect people or
put them at risk for experiencing violence. This revision includes
1) implementing updates to the web-based system to improve
performance, functionality, and accessibility, 2) adding new data
elements to the system, and 3) making minimal revisions to the
NVDRS Coding Manual. There are no changes to the burden.
