pdfHave questions about the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey?
See below for answers to frequently asked questions!
What questions will you ask me during my next interview?
During the last interview, we asked you general questions such as where you
usually go for health care and your health insurance coverage. At the next
interview, we will ask you about the type of health care you received. We will
also ask about the costs of these services, including costs not covered by
Medicare.
Why did you send me a planner and a blue folder?
You can use the planner to help track your doctor visits, hospital stays, and
other health care related events. In addition, you can use the enclosed folder to
organize all your insurance statements, bills, receipts, and any other
documentation for all medical visits and purchases. During the next interview,
your interviewer will ask you about each of these visits and purchases and their
costs. Recording your visits and saving your documents will help ensure that
the information we collect is as accurate as possible.
What will you do with my information collected in the survey?
We will produce statistical reports which describe the use and cost of health
care for Medicare beneficiaries, as well as where they go for care, how they feel
about their care, and payment for health care. No information that could
identify you individually is ever publicly released.
How do I know my answers will be kept private?
Your answers are protected under the Federal Privacy Act of 1974. The
information you report is combined with information provided by many others
and only used to describe Medicare beneficiaries as a group.
