PAPERWORK REDUCTION ACT
PUBLIC REPORTING BURDEN STATEMENT
The public reporting burden for information collected through eFISH is listed in the table below. These
burden estimates include the time for reviewing the instructions, searching the existing data sources,
gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information.
Send comments regarding the burden estimate or any other aspect of these collections of information,

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Before completing any form or data entry screen in eFISH, please note the following: 1) Notwithstanding
any other provision of law, no person is required to respond to, nor shall any person be subject to a
penalty for failure to comply with, a collection of information subject to the requirements of the
Paperwork Reduction Act, unless that collection of information displays a currently valid OMB control
number; 2) Some of the information collected through eFISH is mandatory and some of it is voluntary. In
all cases, the information is used to manage commercial fishing efforts under 50 CFR part 679 and part
680, and under section 402(a) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (16
U.S.C. 1801, et seq.); 3) The business names and addresses of permit holders, license holders, quota share
recipients, cooperatives, and CDQ groups are made available to the public on the NMFS Alaska Region
webpage (https://www.alaskafisheries.noaa.gov). Other information is confidential under section 402(b)
of the Magnuson-Stevens Act and NOAA Administrative Order 216-100, which sets forth procedures to
protect confidentiality of fishery statistics.

PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT
AUTHORITY: The collection of this information through eFISH is authorized under the MagnusonStevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, 16 U.S.C. 1801 et seq.
PURPOSE: NMFS uses information submitted through eFISH to identify individuals, businesses,
cooperatives, and non-profit corporations that intend to participate in the federally managed groundfish
and crab fisheries off Alaska, and to identify license holders, vessel owners, and vessels that are members
of fishery cooperatives. If applicants meet program eligibility requirements, NMFS issues fishing permits,
fish processing permits, licenses, quota share, and cooperative quota based on the information provided in
these online applications.
ROUTINE USES: Disclosure of this information is subject to the published routine uses identified in the
Privacy Act System of Records Notices COMMERCE/NOAA-19, Permits and Registrations for the
United States Federally Regulated Fisheries, and COMMERCE/NOAA-6, Fishermen’s Statistical Data.
NMFS posts some information submitted through eFISH on its public website
(https://www.alaskafisheries.noaa.gov), including name of the individual business owner or authorized

representative of the cooperative, business address, and names of the license holders and vessel owners
who are members of a cooperative. In addition, NMFS may share information submitted through eFISH
with other State and Federal agencies or fishery management commissions, including staff of the North
Pacific Fishery Management Council and Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission.
DISCLOSURE: Providing information through eFISH is voluntary; however, failure to provide complete
and accurate information will prevent the determination of eligibility and issuance of mandatory fishing
permits, processing permits, licenses, and fishing quotas to individuals, businesses, and cooperatives.
