set of guidelines agreed upon by the World Organization for Animal
Health (OIE) for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) type A
surveillance including laboratory submissions.
US Code:
7 USC
8301 Name of Law: Animal Health Protection Act
This request for renewal is for
21,568 estimated annual responses and 3,421 estimated annual burden
hours, reflecting a decrease of 4,072 responses and an increase of
856 burden hours from the previous renewal request. The number of
respondents decreasing from 1,099 to 178. This renewal includes
program changes. APHIS attributes the changes to APHIS’ more
carefully calculating its testing patterns as needed to align its
surveillance efforts with the amount of testing required to
maintain the United States’ WOAH BSE negligible risk status. The
change is also attributable to changes in APHIS’ method of
calculating the number of responses and burden hours.
