Wildlife Valuation Mailings/E-mails
Sample contact letter in mail survey packet - Terrestrial animal version
Dear [NPS Unit] Visitor:
Thank you for agreeing to participate in this survey of visitor opinions on ways to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions within [NPS Unit]. The National Park Service is conducting this study to better understand the issue of vehicle collisions with wildlife within national parks and what can be done to minimize these collisions and protect both wildlife and drivers.
Your answers to the survey questions will help the NPS better understand how big an issue the risk of wildlife-car collisions is to drivers within the park, and what support there may be among park visitors to take actions to reduce the chances of such collisions.
Inside this packet you will find a questionnaire and a self-addressed, postage paid envelope. The questionnaire should take about 15 minutes to complete, and it does not require any special knowledge-we just ask that you consider each question and respond to your best ability. All information you provide will remain anonymous and will only be reported combined with the answers of others.
Only a select number of people are being asked to take part in this study, so your participation is very important. Once you have completed the questionnaire, we are asking that you return it as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact my office at 406-721-2265 or neher@montana.com.
Sincerely,
Chris Neher, Survey Director
