The Passenger Ferry Grant Program
provides funding for passenger ferries through a competitive
process for capital projects that support passenger ferry systems
in urbanized areas, such as ferry vessels, terminals, and related
infrastructure. The Electric or Low-Emitting Ferry Pilot Program
makes federal funds available to projects that supports the
purchase of electric or low-emitting ferry vessels. The Ferry
Service for Rural Communities Program makes federal funds available
to states to ensure basic essential ferry service is provided to
rural areas.
The Bipartisan
Infrastructure Law, enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and
Jobs Act, establishes a new Passenger Ferry Grant Program, Electric
or Low-Emitting Ferry Pilot Program, and Ferry Service for Rural
Communities Program. The Passenger Ferry Grant Program provides
funding for passenger ferries through a competitive process for
capital projects that support passenger ferry systems in urbanized
areas, such as ferry vessels, terminals, and related
infrastructure. The Electric or Low-Emitting Ferry Pilot Program
makes federal funds available to projects that supports the
purchase of electric or low-emitting ferry vessels. The Ferry
Service for Rural Communities Program makes federal funds available
to states to ensure basic essential ferry service is provided to
rural areas. FTA will publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity in
late June/and or early July to coincide with the Administrations
goals. As such, FTA will be soliciting information in the form of
grant applications. As a result, FTA is seeking an emergency
approval for a new information collection. During the six month
emergency approval period, FTA will be go through the regular
process to submit a request for the IC into FTA's permanent PRA
inventory. The Emergency Information Collect Request (ICR) Federal
Register Notice has been published and included in ROCIS under the
supplementary documents section.
