The purpose of the Minority Science
and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP) is to effect long-range
improvement in science and engineering education at predominantly
minority institutions and to increase the flow of underrepresented
ethnic minorities, particularly minority women, into scientific and
technological careers. MSEIP supports the Federal Government's
efforts to improve and expand the scientific and technological
capacity of the United States and to support its technological and
economic competitiveness. This application package includes program
background, application instructions, and forms needed to submit a
complete application to the Department of Education.

Science & Engineering Improvement Program
All burden has been
recalculated to reflect updated estimates of burden hours per
response and total number of respondents. As a result of these
updated estimates, burden per response has increased from 40 to 160
hours and the total number of expected responses has decreased from
200 to 150.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
