APHIS collects from individuals,
businesses, and state and foreign governments information related
to the importation and quarantine of foreign plant and plant
products entering the United States under the provisions of 7 CFR
319 and 352. The information is used to determine compliance with
the regulations and is necessary for preventing the introduction of
plant pests or entry of unauthorized plant or plant products into
the United States.
In this renewal request, the
inclusion of a 506,000 response and 7,500 hour buffer was
discontinued because estimates were obtained from activity
databases rather than being based on cumulative commodity
estimates. Significant estimate adjustment increases include
labeling and marking, and notice of arrivals, whose estimates were
previously underestimated. Significant descreases include bilateral
operational workplans and cooperative service agreements whose
estimates were previously overestimated.
