APHIS amended regulations to the
Animal Welfare Act by adding standards for birds not bred for use
in research under the Animal Welfare Act. The records and reports
herein provide APHIS with the data necessary for the review and
evaluation of program compliance by regulated facilities, and
provide a workable enforcement system to carry out the requirements
of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA).

An amendment to the animal
welfare regulations is resulting in an increase of estimates
reported in 0579-0036, or new activities created by the rulemaking.
These increases are reported in this information collection
request. APHIS estimates there are 6,268 respondents affected by
this amendment, creating 150,685 responses, and 128,298 hours of
burden.
