The Foreign Trade Zones Act and
Regulations require an application from a firm or organization that
applies for foreign-trade zone (FTZ) status, for subzone status, or
for expansion of an existing zone. Applications must contain
detailed information on facilities, financing, operational plans,
proposed manufacturing operations, need, and economic impact. The
FTZ Board needs complete and accurate information because the Board
is required to make public interest determinations on FTZ
proposals.
The burden decrease results
from the fact that applicants are no longer required to submit
applications in paper form, only electronically, so there are no
longer costs associated with overnighting applications to the FTZ
Board staff office.
