49 CFR Part 193 requires operators of
liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities to maintain records, as
needed, pertaining to facility design, operations, maintenance, and
personnel training. The purpose of this mandatory information
collection request is to ensure compliance with the record keeping
requirements prescribed in the federal pipeline safety regulations.
LNG operators must make and maintain records as described and have
those records available for compliance inspection by PHMSA staff
upon request. Examples of such records include the results of
personnel training activities; records of materials used for
components, buildings, foundations, and LNG support systems; maps;
and various facility maintenance activities. Most records of the
required records are to be kept for as long as the facility is in
service. Personnel records must be maintained for one year after
personnel are no longer assigned duties at the LNG plant.
