The Controlled Substances Act (CSA)
(21 U.S.C. 801-971) requires all persons that manufacture,
distribute, dispense, conduct research with, import, or export any
controlled substance to obtain a registration issued by the
Attorney General. Once registered, the person becomes a DEA
registrant and has the means to conduct DEA registration
verifications at anytime through the DEA Diversion Website.
Non-registrants do not have an obligation to register under the
CSA, however they have obligations which require them to conduct
DEA registration verifications.
