the Steel Import Monitoring and
Analysis (SIMA) System is vital to facilitate the real-time
monitoring of steel imports in a volatile market. This is a
continuation of the licensing and monitoring system which began as
part of the 201 steel safeguards. Extension of the SIMA system has
been expanded to over all steel mill products. SIMA is operating
under authority as part of the Census Act (13 U.S.C. 301(a) and
302).
