The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) created the Coral Reef Conservation Program to safeguard and ensure the welfare of the coral reef ecosystems along the coastlines of America's States and Territories. The administration of this program has potential economic and cultural impacts on the lives of nearby residents. In accordance with its mission goals, NOAA has designed a household survey to help assess the impacts of the Coral Reef Conservation Program.

Adjustments: The main adjustment, resulting in a decrease in annualized burden of 623 (from 1,275 to 652), is due to the interval of surveying having changed from every three to four years, to five to seven. Minor sample size changes, previously approved, are due to the need for more spatially representative information to allow in some jurisdictions for the analysis of data at island scale (or smaller). These changes in sample sizes are in accordance with approved non-substantive change requests since 2012. These changes also allow for the socioeconomic information to be better aligned with the biophysical information also being collected as part of the overall national coral reef monitoring program.
