This information collection outlines
the Maritime Administration's Marine Highway Program and provide
instructions on how to apply for Marine Highway project
designation. The collection is required to obtain and/or retain
benefits. The information will be collected electronically or may
be submitted manually, and will be used by the Maritime
Administration, Office of Ports and Waterways Planning, to evaluate
and review applications being submitted for project designation.
The review will assess factors such as project scope, impact,
public benefit, environmental effect, offsetting costs, cost to the
government (if any), the likelihood of long-term self-supporting
operations, and its relationship with Marine Highway Corridors once
designated. Upon completion of the technical review, applications
will be forwarded to an intermodal review team to review each
application received during the solicitation period.
