Collect information required by the
Packers and Stockyards Act to provide information to hog producers
on contract options available and the number of hogs committed
under contract with packers at plants that slaughter 100,000 or
more hogs. Information is required from packers for processing
plants that meet certain criteria, including size as measured by
annual slaughter. The USDA Grain Inspection, Packer and Stockyards
Administration (GIPSA) is responsible for implementing and
enforcing the P&S Act, including the swine contract library.
The collection of information is necessary for GIPSA to perform the
functions required for the mandatory reporting of swine packer
marketing contract information.
