Our research team tried to contact you earlier this [fall/year] to ask for your participation in the
Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS). We did not receive your completed
questionnaire so we are asking one final time for your response to the most important
questions on a shorter questionnaire (OMB Control No. 1905-0186). We are concerned that
people who have not yet responded may use energy in different ways than those who have.
Hearing from everyone helps ensure that the survey results are as accurate as possible.
Please complete and return the enclosed two page (front and back) questionnaire and return
it in the provided postage-paid envelope. As a thank you for all responses postmarked by
[NRFUDate], we will mail you $20 in cash once we receive your completed questionnaire. We
have shortened the paper questionnaire and increased our cash offer for returning it to show
our appreciation of your time and participation.
