The U.S. Census Bureau (Census Bureau) recently finalized statistical geographic area updates
based on submissions we received during the delineation phase of the 2020 Census Participant
Statistical Areas Program (PSAP). If you submitted updates during the delineation phase, we
have incorporated your updates. We now invite you to review and verify that we correctly
recorded your updates for Alaska Native village statistical areas (ANVSAs). Please take the
action steps below to verify statistical areas.
Action Steps:
1. Review the program materials in your package:
• PSAP Quick Reference Guide(s).
• 2020 Census Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) Paper Tribal
Respondent Guide – This guide includes instructions on how to verify and correct
your tribal statistical area(s).
• Paper maps for your tribe.
2. Check the “No Corrections” box or check the “I plan to submit corrections” box on the
enclosed postage-paid postcard and return it to the Census Bureau within two weeks of
receipt.
Note: If you check the “No Corrections” box, we are able to confirm that your tribe has
received and reviewed statistical areas for the 2020 Census PSAP. If you do not return the
postage-paid postcard to the Census Bureau, we will contact your tribe to confirm
whether you have any statistical corrections to report.
3. Make tribal statistical area verification corrections on the paper maps.
4. Mail the corrected paper maps back to the Census Bureau in the same map tube or
envelope that we sent out with this letter.
