NCHS will submit the results of its split sample comparison of alternative forms of the sexual orientation question to OMB as a nonsubstantive change in late summer 2018 (once population weights have been applied to the full two years of data). Based on the results of that testing, NCHS will make a decision regarding continuing the need to continue this work past September of 2018.

The National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) provides nationally representative and scientifically credible data on factors related to birth and pregnancy rates, family formation and dissolution patterns, and reproductive health for use by various Department of Health and Human Services Programs, as well as for research. This revision requests testing small methodological changes to try to maintain participation. Burden is decreased by revising the response time estimate for women and the number of respondents.
