Survey collects monthly company-level crude oil, lease condensate, and natural gas production in 22 states/ geographical areas. The data are aggregated into state totals, which are published in the "Monthly Natural Gas Production Report" on EIA's web site and in other EIA publications. Reported state totals for crude oil production are published in categories broken out by API gravity.

The sample size was reduced from 600 to 500, which reduces the reporting burden. EIA is using an 85% market coverage threshold in its sample design and is able to meet this target in the published states with a sample size of 500. The net effect is an annual reduction in total burden of 4,800 hours.
