To bring animals and animal products
into the United States, importers must provide documentation and
information to the USDA APHIS that verifies the cargo will not
introduce BSE or other dangerous diseases into the country. This
information is the minimum necessary to verify that the imported
products are in compliance with U.S. standards.
In this renewal, 0579-0234 was
merged into 0579-0393 and several burden estimates were adjusted.
The number of respondents increased by 1,441, the number of annual
responses increased by 496,740 responses, and the total burden
hours increased by 262,945 hours. Twelve activities were added with
the merger, three were changed with adjustments to the type of
respondent and burden estimates, and three activities were added as
new but violations of the PRA.
