The information collected is to assure that railroad signal systems are tested and maintained in a safe and suitable condition and that they provide the safety intended in the Signal Inspection Act. Also, the information collected is to assure that modifications or malfunctions of signaly systems are reported. This non-substantive change updates the following FRA Forms: 1. FRA F 6180.14 - FALSE PROCEED SIGNAL REPORT. New expiration date of 12/31/2018 was added to the form and also the reduced burden hours as indicated in the approved Supporting Statement A documentation. 2. FRA mistakenly included a copy of a form that is no longer part of this collection and thus should be removed. Per our approved Supporting Statement A documentation previously submitted, FRA has discontinued the requirement to submit form FRA F 6180.47, Signal System Five-Year Report. Extract form page 10 of Supporting Statement A documentation: § 233.9 - Reports On July 2, 2014, FRA published a final rule in the Federal Register discontinuing this requirement. See 79 FR 37664. The final rule went into effect on September 2, 2014. Consequently, there is no burden associated with this former provision.
