The clause DFARS 252.246-70XX, Sources
of Electronic Parts, includes the requirement that DoD contractors
and subcontractors that are not the original component manufacturer
are required to notify the contracting officer if it is not
possible to obtain an electronic part from a contractor-approved
supplier. This notification is required to comply with law. The
information is used to ensure the contractor performs the
additional inspection, testing, and authentication required when an
electronic part is not obtained from a contractor-approved
supplier.
