The regulations at 25 CFR 161 govern
the grazing of livestock on the Navajo Partitioned Lands (NPL),
Navajo-Hopi Former Joint Use Area, Additionally, these regulations
conserve the range-lands of the Navajo Partitioned Lands to
maximize future use of the land for grazing and other purposes. The
regulations are a result of a number of court cases. This
information collection allows BIA to receive the information
necessary to determine whether an applicant to obtain, modify, or
assign a grazing permit on NPL is eligible and complies with all
applicable grazing permit requirements.
The only changes were to the
number of responses for 25 CFR161.102, Provide copy of Tribal law
or policy affecting grazing, in Question 12 and 161.102, Review
Tribal law or policy affecting grazing, in Question 14. This change
was made so that the values would not be zero.
