When the Government purchases supplies
that are new to the supply system, nonstandard, or modifications of
previously shipped items, and different freight classifications may
apply, offerors are requested to indicate the full uniform freight
classification or national motor freight classification per FAR
47.305-9. The provision 52.247-53, Freight Classification
Description, is inserted in solicitations when the requirements of
FAR 47.305-9 have to be met by contractors.
