The VA Form 22-8979 is used by
students for certifying attendance and continued enrollment in
courses leading to a standard college degree and in non-college
degree programs.
The change in the burden is due
to a decrease in the number of respondents. Since the onset of the
Post 9/11 GI-Bill the number of individuals utilizing the education
programs that require enrollment certifications has drastically
decreased. Also, the VRAP program which resulted in a spike of
verification of enrollments in 2012 has ended.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
