The National Syndromic Surveillance Program (previously called BioSense) supports the sharing and use of high-quality syndromic surveillance data for situational awareness and to identify, monitor, investigate, and respond to hazardous events and disease outbreaks at local, regional and national levels. CDC, state and local public health departments, DoD, VA, and other collaborators participating in NSSP submit healthcare data to the BioSense platform through automated electronic health information exchange.
