SUBJECT: Request to temporarily waive requirement to print current OMB expiration date

BJS respectfully request a short-term, three-month waiver of the requirement to include the OMB expiration date on the National Crime Victimization Survey (Survey) questionnaire and pre-contact letter sent to sampled households. The waiver will enable the survey to remain in the field without interruption while the survey’s clearance submission is under review by OMB.

Survey materials for distribution in September, October and November under the new expiration date must be prepared and disseminated to the field offices in mid-July in order to ensure that there will be no interruptions in survey operations. The new OMB expiration date will not be known at that point.

If there are any questions concerning this request, please contact Michael G. Planty, Chief, Victimization Statistics, Bureau of Justice Statistics, at (202) 514-9746 or by email at Michael.Planty@usdoj.gov.
