When: June 7th, 2017 – August 9th, 2017
Who: Northeast Muldoon and Spenard Campus Boys and Girls Clubs. The mission of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska is “To empower and inspire the diverse youth of Alaska to reach their full potential by offering them hope, opportunity and a safe environment”. Participants will range from elementary through high-school aged youth who have varying levels of experience with fishing. No personally identifiable information will be recorded.
What: Introducing Alaska’s urban youth to the fish in their backyards. Every youth from the Boys and Girls clubs described above will participate in a structured trip to a local creek to learn how to fish and about the fish that they will try to catch.
How: A hard copy of this survey will be given to each program participant in-person at the beginning of each day. We will walk through the survey with them verbally, while they write down their answers on their own sheets. After each question we will do a short recap of that question to hear any answers that the kids are willing to share.
