Pink Shrimp Bycatch Reduction Lights

In the fields below, record the following bycatch reduction device (BRD) information.

Lights present – Check, “yes” if bycatch reduction lights were used.  Check, “no” if no lights were
utilized for bycatch reduction.  If yes, specify if the lights were used on all hauls during the trip.  If
lights were only used on certain hauls, specify the hauls lights were utilized.
● Number of lights per net – Count and record the number of lights used on each net (count both nets
if double rigged nets are used and keep the numbers separate for each net).
● Light type – Check the appropriate box: Single color, multi‐color (multiple colors that do not
change), or color changing (multiple colors that change).
● Light pattern ‐ Record if the light is static (is continuously lit), or strobe (the light strobes/flashes off
and on).
● Light color – Record the color(s) of all lights that were on during fishing.  If more than one color was
used, list all colors on during fishing.
● Light manufacturer/model – Ask the skipper/crew what brand and model (if known) of lights are
being utilized.
● Notes ‐  Record any information not captured in the fields below pertaining to the use of bycatch
reduction lights.
