This program adjustment
decrease of 56.78 million annual burden hours for this ICR (184.38
million previously approved estimate of annual burden hours -
127.60 million proposed estimate of annual burden hours) is the
result of two adjustments the Agency has made to this estimate.
First, the Agency has updated its estimate of the population of CMV
drivers subject to the recordkeeping requirements of the HOS rules
to include an estimate of the number of intrastate drivers from 4.6
million currently approved to 3.66 million proposed in this
request. In addition, the Agency has incorporated an estimate of
the average number of CMV drivers who will employ timesaving
electronic HOS technology over the 3-year period of this ICR from
0% currently approved to 22% proposed in this request.
