Extension without change of a currently approved collection
The Commission released on January 09,
2008, In the Matter of Implementation of the Subscriber Carrier
Selection Changes Provisions of the Telecommunications Act of 1996,
Policies and Rules Concerning Unauthorized Changes of Consumers'
Long Distance Carriers, Fourth Report and Order, CC Docket No.
94-129, FCC 07-223. The Commission revised its requirements
concerning verification of a consumer's intent to switch carriers.
These requirements will: ensure that each verification includes the
date; expand the disclosure obligations of third party verifiers
when consumers have questions during the verification; and
otherwise clarify the required disclosures by verifiers to ensure
that consumers better comprehend precisely what service changes
they are approving. The Commission believes that these requirements
& additions will increase consumer confidence, clarify existing
rules, and decrease the likelihood of slamming.

Due to new census data
available for respondents and the change in frequency of response
for requirement § 64.1110 of the Commission's rules, the Commission
has re-evaluated the assessment of the burdens for this information
collection and determined there has been: a decrease in the number
of respondents of - 2,294 respondents, from 6,454 to 4,160 ; a
decrease in the number of responses of -2,711 responses, from
25,041 to 22,330; and a decrease in the annual burden hours of
-14,354, from 105,901 to 91,547. There are no program changes.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
